 A nightmare became reality; my barber was gone with no viable way of finding him. I attempted Yelp, Google Maps, and allowed friends to set me up. Desperate, I simply wanted to be in a good barbershop. During months of one cut stands, my hairline was pricked, pushed back, and painted, which lead me back into the familiar hands of the barber that cut my very first haircut –– Lawerence Tolliver. The older black man that knew my hairline better than anyone never asked why I strayed but instead welcomed me back with open arms and the haircut I wanted needed.
